Strider SMF GG digi camo, some pics and some thoughts.
I received my new new Strider SMF GG DC blade today. The knife is gorgeous. Much to my surprise, there is a bronze hue over the digi camo blade and titanium parts. Even the pocket clip has this bronze hue to it. In contrast, the SnG GG has a silver cast to the knife where the SMF GG is totally different with a brown/bronze hue. The pics dont really capture the hue the of the digi camo blade or titanium but it is very noticeable in hand.
The digital camo blade is also very different from the Strider tiger stripe blade. The digital camo has a metalic bronze hue. Its almost like it has a very muted anodized look about it. It is a different process and worth the $$ upgrade. The blade stops are also polished like a DDC custom.
As with all the Striders that passed through my hands recently, the fit and finish is excellent. I see no fit and finish difference between this SMF GG and the DDC I sent back. (details in another post)
The blade centering is perfect.
The only surprise I had is that there is no Strider break-in with this knife. The knife is brand new but smooth as glass and the lock doesnt stick at all? In fact, the lock bar pushes over very smoothly but locks up with that lock Strider "clack". Other than the DDC, every other new Strider I had required a break in period. I dont know if it is normal with the GG models but the knife feels like a custom right from the start. My last SMF was a CC model. The GG is similar but thinner and lighter than the CC. The difference is noticeable. I didnt think it would be but it is.
The GG fits flatter in the pocket. I love the Gunners Grips. The dimpled textured G10 and titanium just sticks in the hand with out being abrasive. That was the one complaint I had with the CC. The CC is very smooth.
The hinderer lock stop is also conical like a DDC. The blade is also came shaving sharp.
